Calling all aspiring dance crews! If you think you’ve got the rhythm and the flava, come back to the roots of hip-hop!
This is your chance to learn how to perform and battle from some of the best choreographers/dancers in the region.
Sign up to audition for our SixTeen Dance Crew Challenge!
If selected by one of our invited choreographers, your crew will undergo 16 hours worth of rehearsals and showcase the new choreography at Esplanade’s Outdoor Theatre.
Don’t miss this opportunity to perform and battle in front of hundreds.
This is what will happen:
- Sign up for auditions in crew of 6-10 members.
- Take part in the auditions happening on Sunday, 8 August 2010.
- After the audition process, each choreographer will select a crew he would like to work with.
- Each choreographers and his respective crew will work together to choreograph a 6-8 minute performance piece.
- Each crew will undergo 16 hours of rehearsals over a 4-day period (9-12 August 2010).
- Each crew will perform its piece at the Outdoor Theatre during 4 Flo’ on 13 and 15 August 2010.
- On Sunday, 15 August, after all the crew’ performances, representatives from each crew come to the fore and the battle begins!
About:
Singapore’s very own Patrick Loo from Danzpeople, has been in the dance scene for more than a decade. Despite starting dancing quite late in life, he has choreographed extensively for major shows and has worked with various artists, both local and overseas. Patrick also founded the award-winning all-girl crew Platinum in 2000.
Ha Woo Shin (Haw) is the leader and choreographer of Prepix Crew from Korea. Not only is he frequently on the judges’ panel for competitions that are both local and overseas, together with the rest of the crew he has taught and performed in Germany, Thailand and Russia, just to name a few.
Kyogo Tsutsui is an esteemed member of D’OAM Crew from Osaka since it’s formation in 2001. Other than teaching regularly in Osaka, he has taught and performed in many countries, such as Germany, Taiwan, Amsterdam and Macau.
Arnel Serrano one of the choreographers of the crew, Philippine All Stars. Together, they have won several international competitions, most notably, World Hip Hop Dance Championships as well as Hip Hop Open D’Italia.
Alvin De Castro is one of Australia's best hip hop/urban choreographers - recognised not only locally, but around the world. He became the first So You Think You Can Dance contestant worldwide to be invited as a featured Choreographer whilst on the show. Alvin is currently Director of the well respected two-time Australian national champions, Beatphonik Dance Crew.
